The Results You Will See and Timelines
The results you will see in various kinds of cycles
and I want to let you know the cycles I have seen and what you will see in your
company.
Cycle 1 - Day 1 to end of Week 2
This first cycle is the introduction cycle. This is where we enroll everybody that wants
to be part of the program and the benefits that are covered in the
program. It takes about a week or two to
get used to the metrics and how the reporting works. How the employee can use the metrics to their
advantage and how they can adjust and win the system. How they know they are going to be tracked
and what kind of things are important and the other things they need to have
their attention to. So, this is just
getting used to measuring and how they need to get more money and the kind of
feedback they will receive. The changes
in meetings and how they will develop teams and how they are going to help each
other. How the management will view the
reports and how to interpret the reports on the fly to make necessary
adjustments to drive higher performance.
Cycle 2 - Week 2 to Week 6
This is the implementation cycle and process
development cycle.
This cycle is where the employees will start to
see cash and other financial feedback from their efforts. We traditionally offer a little bit more
incentives because we want to drive the program through all levels of the organization. This is where the metrics are fine-tuned, and
all the reporting is set up to fit to the company. Then once all the meetings are organized and
the meeting agenda is set. Then we will
see a 10 to 30% pick up in productivity because the employees know they are
being watched and they also have a reward set in place. Towards the end of this cycle you will start
to see the huge gains in productivity and the fixed costs will drop. The revenue efficiency and customer
engagement will increase. This is about week
6 of the process.
Cycle 3 - Week 6 to Week 12
This is what I refer to the power cycle
Now this is the cycle that all managers, Executives,
and employees love because productivity is 20 to 60% increase. They really feel like they are winning, and all
the features of the plan are running full steam forward. The employee and customer engagement are at
high levels. The fixed costs reduce to a
very minimal or basic level. Then the
cash flow increases and everything in the organization is at a very high
level. This is where the employees
start to see the bonuses and the compensation increases and how they will benefit
from this program. The managers start to
see how easy it is to manage the employees and they can start to drive the
culture and increase morale with leaps and bounds. The executive’s jobs are even easier because
talking to the board or the investors is one that they enjoy having. As you start to leverage this cycle and start
to move to the long-term cycle. This is
the leveraging cycle and you can start to create your strategy for the long term
because of the cost leveraging and other things that will drive your company to
new levels and the sustainability of this program.
Cycle 4 - Week 12 and Onward
This is what
I refer to the long-term cycle. This is
where the employees help each other because they know the more, they work as a
team the more their pay out will be.
They also know as they fine tune their process in terms of productivity. The managers and executives will continue to
see a climb in productivity rates, but they will also stabilize and see if they
want change some of the metrics or add some incentives to increase more
productivity. I just want to make sure
that we know that to continue at a higher rate of productivity will increase
the amount of attention that managers and executives must put at it. We need to set the base level that the
employees normally hit at but the amount of variance we can adjust up to give
you the kind of goals you have for the company.
